How do you fit a pvc bath panel the side panel that is.I want to ***** it into place for easy access to pipes?

how to place

I had to get my last panel on my bath smashed out because I changed the taps and waste pipe. I now have another bath panel and I’m wondering what is the easiest way to get it fitted. I did already hire someone and they cut it too short so I would like to do it myself and try to refrain this happening again. I have purchased another new panel again. Can you help me…

If you have a plastic bath your bath panel should tuck up behind the lip on your bath so it should be just a bit too tall when you hold it against the side of your bath, pull it out at the bottom and try to feed it behind the lip.You will need to make two small notches on th top edge at each end for this to happen as you should be able to see, the panel should then rest up against a timber batten that should already have been fitted on the floor to which you could ***** with screws and caps which you should be able to find at B&Q.
If your panel is not tall enough to do this you will need to cut some packers to raise it so that it does fit behind the lip and then fit a skirting strip. If you have a steel or cast iron bath then there should be a front timber frame that the panel will need to rest against you could simply stick it with self adhesive Velcro or double sided tape. good luck

this link should give you a rough idea, and no matter what size panel you get its very rare to get one thats just sits right (the buggers always need cutting down).

make sure your bath has a suitable frame to fix onto as shown on the pics in the link above.

basically what you have to do is either measure up the side of the bath where the panel is to be fitted and transfer the measurements onto the panel itself making sure you allow for the panel to sit within the small lip you can feel under the side of the bath at the top.

Or depending which panel you have, you can place it against the side of the bath and mark out where you need to cut to remove the excess for the panel to fit, depending on the panel and how high the bath has actually been set will determine wether you need to reduce the top or bottom part of the panel or both.

for fixings use or something similar as these will give the job a good finish. and dont forget to seal along the edges where necessary with ‘bathroom silicon’

And don’t be afraid to cut a little off at a time, it better to have to take a bit more off than to take too much.just take your time and you should be fine, they can be a right b’stard for a first timer if you get worked up leave it for 5 mins and then start again.

good luck lol
